Health Cluster Coordinator

About the role

The Health Cluster Coordinator (P5) leads a coordinated health‑sector response for WHO in humanitarian emergencies, focusing on vulnerable and marginalized populations. The role ensures alignment with the United Nations Inter‑Agency Standing Committee (IASC) framework and WHO’s Emergency Response Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Lead an effective national health‑sector response in partnership with national and international stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and participatory leadership for planning, monitoring, quality assurance, and reporting on health service delivery, Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO), Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) and contingency planning.
• Ensure synergy with national plans, mainstream cross‑cutting issues, and compliance with WHO norms, standards and protocols.
• Deliver technical assistance for joint support missions and capacity‑building for emergency preparedness and response.
• Oversee data management, information sharing, monitoring and reporting through WHO’s Information Management strategy.
• Drive advocacy and resource‑mobilisation efforts.
• Lead the country office’s data‑management strategies and coordinate with health information management teams.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s level or above) in epidemiology, public health, medicine or a related field.
