Depot Workshop Engineer

About the role

Egis Design Center Thailand (EDCT) provides engineering design services for Egis entities worldwide within the BL Transportation business. It is looking for a Depot Workshop Engineer to join its growing Design Center, working on the design, installation, testing and maintenance of depot workshop facilities and equipment for rail, metro and bus projects around the world.

Key responsibilities

• Design workshops: elaborate the functional layout of the depot based on the operation plan and maintenance schedule, and ensure the track layout meets trackwork design requirements.
• Manage workshop and depot equipment: oversee selection, installation and commissioning of equipment such as lifting jacks, bogie drop systems, wheel lathes and testing rigs, ensure it meets regulatory and operational requirements, and develop preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Support rolling stock maintenance: coordinate with rolling stock maintenance teams, provide technical expertise on repair and overhaul of rolling stock components, and analyse maintenance data to recommend improvements.
• Assist in preliminary design (drawings, technical specifications, interface sheets) and tender documents, and prepare minutes of meetings, technical reports, drawings and other project documentation.
• Review supplier design documents, take part in project meetings, and collaborate with civil, trackwork and electrical engineers.
• Support on-site installation, testing and commissioning of equipment, coordinating with contractors and the employer.
• Keep up to date with emerging technologies and trends in depot and transportation systems, and interface technically with rolling stock, civil works, trackwork and power supply.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related industrial field; Master's degree is a plus.
• 2-5 years of experience in rail systems, preferably in depot workshop, rolling stock maintenance or overhaul.
• Basic understanding of railway systems operation, safety and relevant standards.
• Familiarity with project management processes in engineering consultancy environments.
• Fluency in English.
• Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance equipment, and previous experience managing FAT and FAI of depot equipment or training operators, is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio or similar design tools is a plus.
• Experience making documents in Word and Excel.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
