Senior Technical Consultant, Thermal Power

About the role

AFRY, a leading international power sector consulting and engineering company, is hiring a Senior Technical Consultant in Bangkok for its gas, LNG and hydrogen-fired power plant projects, biomass and waste-to-energy projects, hybrid power plants and carbon capture installations. The role covers technical consulting on power projects across Southeast Asia, with occasional short-term trips to other SEA countries.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare power plant conceptual design studies, feasibility studies, lender and independent engineer projects, and technical due diligence for power plant acquisitions
• Take part in EPC tendering, negotiate with EPC contractors, support IPP bidding, PPA negotiations and power project development
• Carry out other technical consulting assignments related to power plant projects
• Prepare client reports and coordinate internal report preparation
• Proposal preparation and owner's engineer construction projects and design reviews may be included, depending on interest
• Renewable energy, green hydrogen and ammonia production and use in power plants may be added to the role for suitable candidates

Required profile

• Higher professional degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, energy economics or another field relevant to power sector projects (M.Sc. or B.Sc.)
• At least seven years of professional experience in the power sector
• Fluent English, as much of the work involves writing reports in English
• Willingness to travel on short-term assignments

• Good report writing skills
• Good skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
