Lead Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

About the role

HITACHI ENERGY (THAILAND) LIMITED is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer in Bangkok to act as engineering authority in system design and studies for projects and tenders of low to high complexity, covering substations, power plants, FACTS and power quality solutions. The role covers full engineering assignments on small, medium and large projects, delivered cost-effectively and in line with contract specifications and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Engineering Manager, Engineering Leads, tendering team, project managers, SCM, primary/mechanical design, secondary/electrical design, control design, consultants and end customers.
• Specify high-voltage power system components (transformers, CTs, VTs, capacitors, reactors) and evaluate supplier documents against international standards.
• Carry out design studies such as substation insulation coordination, protection design, switching and transient overvoltage analysis and lightning studies.
• Deliver complete power system solutions to customers through engineering and procurement.
• Perform grid integration and dynamic performance studies for converters, renewables, FACTS and HVDC using software such as ETAP, MATLAB, EMTP, PSCAD, PSS/E, RTDS and DIgSILENT.
• Ensure engineering development includes complete multidisciplinary information, lead new solutions for complex projects and coordinate design with consortium partners.
• Support installation, commissioning and site activities, support start-up, and support the Contract Manager with claims on scope, cost, time and risk.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
• Independent contributor who works to established standards and challenges traditional solutions.
• Excellent English and Thai, with good communication skills.
• Dynamic, proactive and willing to grow within the organization.

Required skills

• Simulation tools: ETAP, PSCAD/PSSE, MATLAB, DIgSILENT, RTDS.
• International standards such as IEEE, IEC and GIGRE.
