Application Engineer – Electrical Markets

About the role

3M is seeking an Application Engineer to lead technical programs in the electrical markets, focusing on medium and high voltage cable accessories. You will work closely with customers, sales teams and global experts to identify opportunities, validate solutions and strengthen 3M’s market position.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new product applications through customer engagement, technical presentations and field trials.
• Lead application development and product improvement initiatives for medium and high voltage cable accessories.
• Provide technical support and marketing to utilities and industrial customers.
• Plan and execute field trials, pre‑qualification and product validation with key accounts.
• Conduct failure analysis and root‑cause investigations on joints and terminations.
• Coordinate with external laboratories for type testing and certification.
• Deliver product and application training to internal teams, distributors and end users.
• Support new product introductions, including qualification, documentation and customized solutions.
• Perform competitive analysis and define clear value propositions for 3M solutions.
• Build industry presence through technical papers, presentations and participation in professional bodies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in power engineering, preferably with MV/HV cable accessories.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution and transmission systems (cables, switchgear, transformers).
• Hands‑on experience with installation, testing or troubleshooting of cable accessories.
• Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• Self‑driven, practical and able to lead technical initiatives independently.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel for field work.
