Development Coordination Officer, Crisis Management

About the role

The Development Coordination Officer (Crisis Management) provides strategic and operational support to UN Resident Coordinator Offices (RCOs) in crisis‑affected settings. Working under the ASG for Development Coordination, the officer helps RCOs deliver coordinated UN assistance that advances the 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Offer strategic guidance to Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams on implementing the Common Country Analysis and UNSDCF in priority crisis contexts.
• Facilitate the establishment of external partnerships and joint resource‑mobilisation initiatives.
• Strengthen coordination, analysis and reporting capacities of RCOs, including contributions to crisis‑related reporting.
• Provide surge capacity support through rapid deployments (up to three months) and short‑notice travel to priority RCOs.
• Collaborate with regional directors, UNCT members, programme and operations teams, donors, civil society and government officials.
• May act as Head of RCO on an interim basis when required.

Required profile

• Significant experience in development coordination, preferably within the UN system or similar multilateral environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in crisis‑affected contexts and inter‑agency collaboration.
• Strong analytical and reporting abilities related to development frameworks and emergency response.
• Ability to work under tight timelines, travel frequently and adapt quickly to changing situations.
