Economic Affairs Intern – ICT & Development

About the role

The ICT and Development Section of ESCAP is seeking an intern to support research and programme activities that promote digital connectivity and sustainable development across the Asia‑Pacific region. This full‑time, unpaid position offers hands‑on experience in policy‑relevant analysis and project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with analytical research for flagship publications such as the Asia‑Pacific Digital Transformation Report.
• Compile, process and analyse socio‑economic ICT data, focusing on LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS.
• Support regional projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing digital infrastructure and data use.
• Contribute to website content and communications to raise visibility of Section activities.
• Provide logistical and substantive support for intergovernmental meetings and workshops, including drafting concept notes and coordinating participants.
• Perform additional administrative tasks as required by Section leadership.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate‑level programme (second university degree or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Strong interest in ICT, digital transformation and sustainable development.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
