Economic Affairs Internship – Transport Research & Policy

About the role

This unpaid, full‑time internship with the Transport Division of ESCAP focuses on research and policy analysis related to sustainable transport, climate impacts, and urban mobility. The intern will work under the supervision of a staff member for up to six months, starting from 9 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research on themes such as environmental and social dimensions of transport, climate change impacts, emissions reduction, electric mobility, and resilient transport systems.
• Support the preparation of case studies, background materials, and policy briefs for meetings and workshops.
• Assist in editing and finalising research outputs, including blogs, technical reports, and publications.
• Undertake literature reviews, identify research gaps, and propose topics and methods.
• Collect and analyse quantitative data from primary and secondary sources, and prepare reports with tables, graphs, and charts.
• Develop presentations and infographics to communicate findings.
• Coordinate with Transport Division staff and contribute to day‑to‑day administrative tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree (minimum bachelor level).
• Interest or background in transport, economics, environmental studies, or related fields.
