Engineering Manager - AI Payments App

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a high‑performing team building and scaling AI‑powered payment products used by millions across Southeast Asia. The role combines technical leadership with people management to deliver reliable, fast, and customer‑focused solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineers across frontend, backend and full‑stack development.
• Own engineering delivery for major product areas, ensuring speed without compromising reliability.
• Collaborate with product, design, mobile, backend and AI teams to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical execution.
• Drive architecture decisions across APIs, databases, integrations, infrastructure and customer‑facing systems.
• Set standards for code quality, testing, observability, security and production reliability.
• Mentor engineers through feedback, coaching and performance management.
• Improve processes, tooling and automation to help the team operate at scale.
• Monitor production outcomes, resolve incidents and ensure issues do not repeat.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience shipping production systems.
• Proven experience leading or managing software engineers and owning delivery.
• Deep technical knowledge of backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to make sound architecture trade‑offs while balancing speed, scalability and maintainability.
• Excellent people leadership, coaching and performance management skills.
• Strong product sense and ability to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.
