Head of Risk for Malaysia and Thailand

About the role

AIG is seeking a Head of Risk for Malaysia and Thailand to lead the enterprise risk management function across both markets. You will maintain a robust risk framework, support senior leadership, and drive risk culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and execute the risk management strategy, ensuring alignment with AIG policies and regulatory expectations.
• Facilitate quarterly Risk and Capital Committee meetings and engage with regulators as needed.
• Oversee the Risk Appetite Statement, KRIs, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment and emerging risk processes.
• Lead the Operational Risk Management framework, including RCSA, risk event capture, and key risk indicators.
• Strengthen risk culture, review material outsourcing, major initiatives and business development projects.
• Participate in APAC and global ERM/ORM initiatives and manage climate‑related risk responsibilities.

Required profile

• Broad experience in risk management or general insurance operations.
• Minimum bachelor’s degree; actuarial, ERM, CFA or related qualifications are a plus.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently in a dynamic, multinational environment.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with risk appetite statements, KRIs, capital adequacy assessments, and operational risk processes.
