Migration and Development Research Consultant

About the role

The Migration and Development Research Consultant will support IOM’s THRIVE project in Thailand, providing research and analysis on migration flows, labour market needs, demographic trends and gender‑sensitive evidence to inform inclusive national development planning.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews and collect primary data on migrant skills, labour demand and demographic changes.
• Analyse data using quantitative and qualitative methods to produce evidence‑based reports for government partners.
• Support the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, Ministry of Labour, Thailand Professional Qualification Institute and other stakeholders in integrating research findings into policy.
• Facilitate workshops and briefings to disseminate gender‑sensitive evidence and inclusive development recommendations.
• Travel within Thailand as required to gather field data and engage with local partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in migration studies, demography, economics, development studies or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in research and analysis on migration, labour markets or demographic trends.
• Familiarity with the Thai migration context is preferred.
• Thai nationality.
• Ability to work independently, manage a 12‑month consultancy and travel as needed.
