Permitting Officer (Renewable Energy)

About the role

The Permitting Officer will ensure all regulatory documents and licences are prepared, verified and submitted for solar projects, supporting smooth project execution and hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and verify permit documents such as Aor.1, Aor.6, DEDE, ERC, and PEA/MEA regulations.
• Coordinate with construction, client, and business development teams to ensure compliance with document requirements.
• Oversee permit and license execution, interacting with authorities like IEAT, provincial industry offices, the Department of Industrial Works, and ERC.
• Submit, track, and report permit status proactively to achieve timely approvals.
• Act as liaison between business development, construction, and asset management during project execution and transitions.
• Assist in document preparation for project kick‑off meetings and COD transition periods.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy, Business Administration or a related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in permitting and licensing within the solar industry.
• Strong understanding of permit requirements, submission processes and relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., ERC, PEA/MEA, IEAT).
• Ability to track and predict permit milestones and timelines.
• Excellent communication, coordination and document verification skills.
• Detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and maintain a proactive, professional approach.
