Regional Programme Coordinator – Route‑Based Approach

About the role

The Regional Programme Coordinator (Route‑Based Approach) will lead the technical operationalisation of IOM’s Route‑Based Approach across the region, ensuring alignment with global strategies and providing strategic advice to partners and governments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational leadership for regional implementation of the Route‑Based Approach, coordinating with country offices, regional offices, and HQ divisions.
• Develop and oversee multi‑country, multi‑partner operational plans, ensuring they align with IOM’s institutional priorities and donor requirements.
• Manage the regional Flexible Funding Mechanism allocation and monitor project delivery, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Serve as the regional focal point for the global Route‑Based Approach Task Force, contributing regional inputs and testing operational guidance.
• Lead government engagement to embed route‑based actions in national priorities and support regional consultative processes.
• Coordinate with UN migration networks, develop strategic partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, civil society, academia, and the private sector.
• Facilitate the development and dissemination of route‑level evidence, knowledge products, and analytical outputs to inform programming and decision‑making.
