Regulatory Affairs & Licensing Expert (Thailand Lead)

About the role

Tether and its affiliated entities (e.g. Bitfinex) are looking for an organized self-starter to join its Regulatory and Licensing team. The successful candidate has a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements for the crypto-asset industry in Thailand and wants to apply existing regulatory experience in a dynamic business environment. The role reports to the regional Lead, Asia Pacific, and works alongside project managers and colleagues to run licensing initiatives worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute regulatory strategies and identify preferred markets in the region to operate from.
• Engage with regulatory authorities, industry bodies and policymakers to shape the regulatory landscape for stablecoin issuers, advocating for policies that balance innovation, safety and compliance.
• Analyse local regulatory proposals, advise the business on regulatory risks and opportunities, and monitor regulatory changes to ensure proactive compliance.
• Contribute to obtaining licence approvals in identified markets where appropriate.
• Work with internal teams such as legal, compliance and finance to align with regulatory requirements and address emerging regulatory challenges.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of regulatory experience in the financial services or crypto-asset industry.
• Ability to apply knowledge of key Thai regulatory frameworks strategically and operationally, and to guide resolution of complex regulatory issues.
• Expertise in regulatory analysis, including preparing and submitting responses to regulatory authorities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, with experience in public speaking and representing the company in regulatory discussions.
• Team player able to engage with internal and partner stakeholders, and capable of working collaboratively and independently.
• English-speaking, with a university degree.
