Research Associate (Bangkok-Based)

About the role

The Research Associate, based in Bangkok, supports all research activities of the Asia Centre. The postholder must be fluent in written and spoken English and contributes to research conceptualisation and design, drafting of proposals, online research, data compilation, surveys, interviews and focus groups, analysis, and preparation of presentations.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake online and offline research, review and analyse documents and summarise findings
• Compile data into tables and infographics and prepare presentations
• Design and administer online questionnaires, and coordinate interviews and focus group discussions
• Contribute to drafting baseline studies, commentaries, website articles, narrative reports and policy briefs, and book chapters
• Liaise with donors, publishers, external researchers and speakers of research events such as conferences and seminars
• Support the day-to-day administration and reporting of the Centre's research projects

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in human rights or related subjects such as law, politics, social sciences, international relations, development studies or Asia/ASEAN studies
• One to three years of relevant research work experience
• Excellent oral, written and public presentation skills in English
• Ability to critically analyse and organise information from diverse sources
• Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
• Only open to Thai nationals

Required skills

• Expertise with MS Office tools
• Familiarity with CANVA, WordPress and other relevant software
