Senior Laboratory Officer – STRIDES Thailand

About the role

The Senior Laboratory Officer will lead technical strategy and implementation for laboratory and diagnostic components of the STRIDES activity in Thailand and Southeast Asia, ensuring high‑quality, reliable testing services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership and strategic guidance for laboratory and diagnostic services within the STRIDES activity.
• Coordinate with national, regional and local partners to deliver technical assistance and strengthen laboratory systems.
• Develop and monitor implementation of work plans, budgets and technical components related to diagnostics.
• Lead the creation of guidelines, policies and technical briefs for laboratory network strengthening.
• Conduct assessments of diagnostic networks and laboratory capacity, and report findings.
• Support scale‑up and optimization of new diagnostic tools and information management systems.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in microbiology, biological sciences or a related medical laboratory discipline.
• Extensive experience in laboratory and diagnostic system development, quality assurance and biosafety/biosecurity.
• Proven project management experience in health‑related programs.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking).
