About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Climate Finance Specialist to support Thailand's Department of Climate Change and Environment (DCCE) in developing a portfolio of investable climate projects focused on the livestock sector, particularly dairy. The consultant will work on making technical interventions bankable and identifying innovative financing mechanisms.
Key responsibilities
- Assess available technologies, market opportunities and financing options for dairy manure management, feed additives and biogas.
- Identify priority pilot projects and develop a methane abatement programme with a dedicated investment plan.
- Structure viable business models and explore blended finance and public‑private investment opportunities.
- Connect projects with potential financiers, donors and other stakeholders.
- Engage government, private‑sector and research partners to support implementation and scale‑up.
Required profile
- Proven experience in climate finance and project finance within the agricultural or livestock sector.
- Strong understanding of methane mitigation technologies and investment readiness.
- Ability to work with multi‑donor programmes and government agencies.
- Excellent analytical and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
