Country Director – Thailand

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a senior leader to guide its historic transition in Thailand. Based in Bangkok, the Country Director will steer the shift from camp‑based operations to sustainable refugee integration and self‑reliance.

Key responsibilities

• Represent IRC to government, donors, and partner organizations at national and regional levels.
• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships and funding opportunities in coordination with IRC teams worldwide.
• Lead advocacy and communications on refugee‑related policy and program issues.
• Provide strategic vision and operational leadership for all country programs, ensuring quality design, delivery, and compliance with donor and government requirements.
• Oversee budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation across multiple field offices.
• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Guide the transition from camp‑based services to employment readiness, healthcare, child protection, and livelihood projects.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in humanitarian or development programming, preferably with refugee populations.
• Proven track record of leading large, multi‑site operations and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
• Deep understanding of Thailand’s policy environment and refugee protection frameworks.
• Strong strategic planning, financial oversight, and organizational leadership abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Thai is an advantage.
