Building Automation Engineer (Controls)

About the role

Join Aurecon's Buildings business in Bangkok as a Building Automation Engineer, focusing on control system design, testing and commissioning for complex projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative BMS solutions that meet client and Thai standards.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in control system engineering projects, develop and review specifications, testing and commissioning in line with client and Thai standards.
• Lead project control design, execution, testing and commissioning, including on‑site implementation.
• Conduct technical reviews of specialist contractors’ shop drawings, network architecture schematics, controller wiring diagrams and HMI graphics.
• Liaise with stakeholders to produce control system strategies, designs and specifications and coordinate all building services disciplines.
• Prepare detailed designs of PLC/SCADA/DCS platforms, technical and fee proposals for tenders, and support project engineering and planning.

Required profile

• Degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, ICT or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years post‑graduate experience in concept design, detailed design and site commissioning of building automation projects.
• Proven experience with DDC, PLC control design, BMS and safety‑in‑design practices.
• Strong knowledge of Thai engineering standards and building services engineering (mechanical, electrical, fire, plumbing).
• Leadership, strong organisation and communication skills, and ability to travel to client sites.

Required skills

• DDC and PLC control design.

• OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP & RTU, MQTT, BACnet/IP & MSTP protocols.
• Networking hardware – Cisco, Moxa switches, fibre, structured cabling, Ethernet and security systems.
• PLC/SCADA/DCS platforms and HMI graphics development.
• HVAC control applications and electrical power management systems.
