Engineering Manager - AI-Native Email App

About the role

Doit, the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia, is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team building and scaling products used by millions of users. The role suits a strong technical leader who can guide engineers, make sound architecture and engineering decisions and drive products from idea to production, while keeping the team focused on real customer and business outcomes. It is a remote position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers across frontend, backend and full stack development.
• Own engineering delivery for major product areas, shipping quickly without compromising reliability and quality.
• Work with product, design, mobile, backend and AI teams to turn ambiguous product problems into clear technical execution.
• Drive technical architecture and engineering decisions across APIs, databases, integrations, infrastructure and customer-facing systems.
• Set engineering standards for code quality, system design, testing, observability, security and production reliability.
• Develop engineers through feedback, coaching, performance management and clear expectations, and improve processes, tooling and automation.
• Monitor systems, resolve incidents, identify root causes and prevent recurrence; build a culture of ownership, speed and technical excellence.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience shipping real production systems.
• Experience leading or managing software engineers and owning engineering delivery.
• Strong technical depth across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Able to make sound architecture and technical trade-offs, and to take products from idea through launch and production.
• Strong people leadership, product sense and comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced work.
• Comfortable working in a distributed, international team with English as the main working language.

The role is not for managers who stay far from the technology, who need complete specifications before starting, or who measure success by meetings and tickets rather than shipped outcomes. The interview process includes an online assessment or practical task, a technical/engineering leadership interview and a CEO/final round, with offers aimed at strong candidates within a week.
