Human Rights Internship – Bangkok

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a full‑time intern for a six‑month period in its Bangkok office. The intern will support the regional office in South‑East Asia (SEARO) to monitor human‑rights developments and contribute to the organization’s mission of protecting rights for all.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse human‑rights trends and developments in South‑East Asia.
• Research, draft and edit internal and external notes, reports and daily news updates on the regional human‑rights situation.
• Support SEARO’s engagement with UN human‑rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies.
• Assist in organising workshops, seminars and other events, and maintain information‑resource tools and website content.
• Participate in meetings and conferences, take notes and perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Student in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, or holder of a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. in a field related to human rights.
• Fluency in written and spoken English (required); French is an additional working language.
• No professional work experience required.

Required skills

• Ability to draft news articles and social‑media posts.
• Ability to design surveys and polls (desirable).
