Program Support Specialist II (Health Specialist)

About the role

Compassion is hiring a Program Support Specialist II (Health Specialist) based in the Thai-Myanmar border area. This intermediate specialist consults on and supports the implementation of holistic child development programs and interventions, providing strong knowledge in one subspecialty and helping in others. The role works independently on moderately complex issues and may coach other specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Advocate for children's needs and prioritize child protection in all decisions, following the Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and reporting abuse, neglect or exploitation
• Support holistic child development, provide subject-matter expertise and coach partnership facilitators and cross-functional staff
• Assess changing needs, consolidate national and local data to find gaps and patterns, and help develop and implement strategies
• Design, implement and monitor specific child development strategies and interventions, and build the capacity of partnership facilitators
• Help ensure intervention records and reports are accurate and complete, and review data to improve programs and child outcomes
• Identify resource components for strategies, advise on resource allocation, and contribute to or develop interventions for funding

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or high school diploma with at least three years of relevant work experience
• At least 3 years of experience in community health, public health, child development, NGO or humanitarian programs
• Experience working in the Thai-Myanmar border area
• Fluent Thai, intermediate Karen, and working knowledge of English is an advantage
• Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and commitment to Compassion's cultural behaviors

Required skills

• Preferred: training certificates or professional certifications in health, community development or related fields
• Equivalent education, training or certification may substitute for experience and education

The position is home-based, with possible travel of up to 10% of the normal schedule.
