Risk & Safety Consultant - LNG and Green Fuels

About the role

AFRY, the international engineering, design and advisory company formed by ÅF and Pöyry, is looking for a Risk & Safety Consultant for its energy business in Southeast Asian countries. The consultant delivers engineering and consultancy services to the energy sector, from project development through front-end engineering design (FEED), supporting LNG-to-power projects in Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead conceptual design of LNG regasification terminals, including onshore and floating units and their interconnection with power plants.
• Develop risk studies such as dropped object risk assessment, failure risk scenarios, SIMOPS study, materials handling study, environmental risk assessment (ERA), FMEA, RAM study, ship collision report, fire risk analysis and dimensioning accidental load (DAL) report.
• Develop a complete quantitative risk assessment (QRA) using Safeti software independently, covering gas dispersion and FERA studies.
• Perform single point failure analysis, RAM studies and ALARP assessments.
• Conduct escape, evacuation and rescue analysis (EERA) and emergency system survivability studies (ESSA).
• Run CFD modelling with tools such as ANSYS Fluent and FLACS.
• Carry out PFDs and P&IDs, review HAZID/HAZOP and SIL assessment studies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from a recognised university.
• 3 to 6 years of experience in risk and safety engineering or design for LNG regasification terminals.
• Excellent verbal and written English.
• Consulting firm experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS, PHAST 2D, Safeti and Pipenet.
• Ability to perform CFD modelling with ANSYS Fluent and FLACS.
• Knowledge of industry standards and practices for process design and safety.
• Ability to multitask, manage multiple interfaces and prioritise work.
