Trade Agreement Legal Consultant – Investment Chapter E‑learning

About the role

ESCAP is looking for an international consultant to support the design, development and delivery of an e‑learning course on negotiating investment provisions in trade agreements, and to contribute to the Trade Intelligence Negotiation Advisor (TINA) tools. The role combines content review, lecture preparation, online recordings and advisory board facilitation, primarily for a project targeting graduating LDCs in Asia‑Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Review the draft framework of the e‑learning course and provide recommendations during online consultations (Output a).
• Prepare lecture materials, record Module 4 on “What Is Inside an Investment Chapter?” and assist with quiz development (Output b).
• Participate in up to six individual online consultations to give expert feedback on course content, TINA modules and a working paper (Output c).
• Serve as a resource person for a one‑hour session in a workshop for LDC officials in Bangkok (Output d).
• Provide overall review, quality assurance and substantive edits on draft modules and the AP‑MDEA reference tool (Output e).
• Organise and facilitate three advisory‑board validation meetings for the AP‑MDEA tool (Output f).
• Facilitate and speak at digital trade‑integration workshops as required (Output g).

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in investment provisions within regional trade agreements.
• Experience in developing e‑learning content, capacity‑building courses and analytical tools for trade negotiations.
