Backend Software Engineer - AI Finance Agent

About the role

BJAK, the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia, is looking for backend engineers to build the core systems behind its AI Finance Agent. The role covers reliable APIs, workflows and financial product infrastructure that can scale across markets, partners and millions of users. It is remote, but candidates must be based in Thailand, and English is the main working language.

Key responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs and workflows for the AI Neobank app
• Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services
• Design systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations
• Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and other partners
• Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance
• Build systems that are practical, auditable and ready for regulated financial products

Required profile

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
• Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases
• Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk
• Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams
• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products is a strong advantage

Required skills

• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging
• Ability to handle production issues and think through edge cases and failure modes
• Clear ownership of what was built personally versus what the team delivered
