Billing Development Manager

About the role

You will own the design and architecture of aCommerce's billing platform, turning billable business events into accurate, auditable charges, invoices and financial records. This is a hands‑on leadership position where you will lead a team of data engineers while continuing to write code and set engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own the end‑to‑end architecture of a scalable, multi‑country, multi‑currency billing platform.
• Architect data pipelines that extract business events from supply‑chain and SaaS applications and define the complete billing data model.
• Build a flexible pricing engine supporting tiered pricing, subscriptions and per‑order fees.
• Write production code for critical components, create prototypes and conduct design and code reviews.
• Establish engineering standards such as CI/CD, automated testing, version control and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Ensure financial compliance with revenue recognition, tax, month‑end close and ERP integration.
• Lead, coach and develop the billing engineering team through hiring, goal‑setting and feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of data or software engineering experience, including 2–3 years leading an engineering team.
• Proven experience designing and building billing, invoicing or payment systems.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles such as order‑to‑cash and revenue recognition.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.

Required skills

• Expertise in SQL and Python for production‑grade code.
• Data modelling with PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift.
• Experience with AWS services and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and version control.
• Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics).
