About the role
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is seeking a Disaster‑Resilience Expert on a consultancy basis to support the Malé City Council in the Maldives. The consultant will lead the development of a de‑congestion and disaster‑resilience roadmap, integrating data‑driven analysis with stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Design and conduct an Urban Mobility Survey (UMS) to inform the de‑congestion plan.
- Perform a Disaster Risk Assessment (DRA) evaluating natural‑hazard impacts on transport infrastructure.
- Facilitate a consultation workshop in Malé City to present survey results and gather stakeholder input.
- Develop a comprehensive Decongestion and Disaster Resilience Roadmap based on UMS, DRA, and workshop outcomes.
- Deliver a capacity‑building workshop to enhance local technical skills for congestion reduction and disaster preparedness.
Required profile
- Proven experience in urban transport planning, disaster risk assessment, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work with municipal authorities, transport operators, and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and report‑writing skills, with a focus on clear presentation of methodology and recommendations.
