Economic Affairs Intern

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific is seeking an Economic Affairs Intern to support research, project implementation, and digital content development for a period of 3–6 months starting January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Access and download data from key financial market databases and apply economic theory to geospatial and time‑series data.
• Contribute to drafting reports and papers on space applications such as air‑pollution monitoring.
• Assist in developing or updating digital platforms and multimedia content.
• Support day‑to‑day team activities and tasks.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or have completed the final year of a bachelor’s degree, a master’s, or a Ph.D. programme in a field related to economics, finance, geospatial analysis or similar.
• Fluency in spoken and written English; knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.
• Ability to provide proof of enrollment or graduation and official certificates when requested.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office 365.
• Experience using Google Earth Engine and image‑processing tools.
• Competence in handling time‑series and geospatial data.
• Programming skills and familiarity with open‑source Earth observation software.
