Inspection Engineer – Lifting & Crane

About the role

The Inspection Engineer is responsible for third‑party inspection, testing and certification of lifting equipment and cranes, primarily in the oil and gas sector, ensuring compliance with international standards, client specifications and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inspection, testing and certification of mobile, offshore and tower cranes as well as lifting appliances and accessories.
• Perform initial, periodic, annual inspections and load testing, including re‑certification.
• Review engineering drawings, lifting plans and manufacturer data books to verify compliance with ISO, EN, ASME, API and client requirements.
• Prepare accurate inspection reports, certificates and non‑conformance reports and liaise with clients, contractors and site personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Mechanical Engineer License – Level 2 (mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years experience in the oil & gas industry with hands‑on inspection of lifting equipment and cranes.
• Prior experience with third‑party inspection agencies is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of lifting equipment safety standards and regulations (ISO, EN, ASME, API).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, lifting plans and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with inspection and testing techniques for cranes and lifting accessories.
• Proficiency in MS Office and inspection reporting systems.
