About the role
The Sustainable Demographic Transition Section of the Social Development Division is seeking a motivated intern to support research and policy analysis on population trends, ageing, migration and youth engagement in the Asia‑Pacific region. This unpaid, full‑time position lasts 3‑6 months and offers hands‑on experience in a UN environment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews and compile secondary data on demographic changes, migration, ageing and youth participation in the 2030 Agenda.
- Assist in organizing meetings, preparing materials and supporting event logistics.
- Review and edit working papers, reports and other documents for clarity and accuracy.
- Develop audio‑visual content such as PowerPoint presentations and infographics for non‑technical audiences.
- Analyse data using Excel and other statistical tools.
- Create substantive website content and perform other tasks assigned by the Section Chief.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
- Field of study related to social studies, demography, international relations, statistics, human rights law or similar.
- Strong interest in population dynamics, social protection and sustainable development.
