Project Accountant

About the role

The Project Accountant supports the Commercial Lead, Project Leaders and Project Managers in managing the financial and commercial aspects of project delivery, focusing on administration, forecasting, billing and collections.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of project contracts, service fees, billing schedules and payment terms.
• Review and update project financial data and forecasts in Proteus.
• Monitor project profitability and working capital, highlighting risks to the Commercial Lead.
• Support billing activities, ensure accurate invoicing and timely collections.
• Review Work in Progress balances and convert them into billable revenue.
• Prepare regular and ad‑hoc financial, commercial and project reports.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in a consulting business, with minimum 1 year in a similar accounting role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA qualification is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and follow through on tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Experience with Workday Finance, Power BI, Proteus or similar project accounting systems.
• Basic use of AI‑powered productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT and Power BI AI features.
