Senior Interior Designer

About the role

The Senior Interior Designer leads and collaborates with design teams to develop creative and functional interior design solutions, from initial concept through detailed documentation and project completion. The role covers space planning, material selection, FF&E specification, BIM/CAD modelling and coordination with other disciplines, and includes mentoring junior team members. It reports to the Design Director.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project startup: understand client briefs, define stakeholders, prepare project schedules, review statutory requirements and lead proposal preparation.
• Develop interior design concepts (space plans, elevations, sections, details) in BIM software such as Revit, and present designs to clients and stakeholders.
• Select and approve materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), considering sustainability, performance and budget.
• Oversee the BIM/technical team, lead internal design reviews and conduct site visits.
• Coordinate with architecture, MEP and structural disciplines, track project budgets and lead project meetings.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals and RFIs, and oversee construction progress.
• Communicate regularly with the Design Director and clients, and keep project information up to date in the company's systems.
• Maintain time records, take part in continuing professional development and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Explore approved AI tools (LLMs and generative AI) to generate design options, automate tasks and train the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Interior Design or Architecture (if applicable).
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a specific area such as commercial or hospitality design, with a proven track record of delivered projects.
• Leadership and mentoring experience preferred.
• Good to excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Expert-level BIM and Revit, supported by a Senior BIM Technician / BIM Manager.
• Use of AI tools, including large language models and generative AI.
• Google Workspace proficiency.
• Strong design talent, presentation skills and knowledge of building codes and construction methods.
