Design Director

About the role

The Design Director provides creative leadership and strategic direction for design projects, ensuring alignment with dwp's design philosophy, client needs and project goals. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role leads and mentors design teams, oversees the design process from concept to completion and collaborates with other departments. The position is based in Bangkok and is full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Provide creative direction and leadership for all design projects, aligning them with the company's design philosophy, brand identity and client requirements.
• Mentor design teams, review and approve concepts, presentations and documentation, and stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Oversee projects from concept to completion, working with Project Managers on schedules, budgets and resources, and ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations and sustainability standards.
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of designers, give performance feedback, identify training needs and help recruit and onboard new members.
• Collaborate with business development, marketing, project management and finance, and represent dwp at client meetings, presentations and industry events.
• Support business development by helping prepare proposals and marketing materials, and share project information in the CRM (HubSpot).
• Prepare regular reports to the Managing Director and implement design review processes to maintain quality standards.
• Integrate AI tools such as LLMs and generative AI into workflows, using them for design exploration, information gathering, process optimization and problem solving.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Architecture or Interior Design (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of experience in architectural or interior design, with a focus on areas such as corporate offices or hospitality.
• Proven track record of delivering design projects and a strong portfolio of creative, innovative solutions.
• Excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills; knowledge of design principles, building codes and construction methods.

Required skills

• Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit) and related tools.
• Proficiency in design presentation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion and Marq.
• Google Workspace proficiency.
• Ability to use AI tools including Large Language Models and generative AI.
