Associate Design Director - Interior Design

About the role

The Associate Design Director leads project teams in developing interior design concepts, working under the direction of the Design Director. The role covers investigating design options, developing concepts, preparing documentation for authorities, tenders and construction, and mentoring junior designers, while integrating new technologies such as AI into the design process.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project teams in developing interior design concepts aligned with client briefs, company design philosophy and project goals, and guide the team in using AI tools for design exploration, space planning and material selection.
• Oversee design documentation for authority submissions, tenders and construction, and review drawings and specifications; collaborate with the BIM/technical team.
• Assist the Design Director in planning workflows and resources, monitor project progress, coordinate with MEP, structural and lighting consultants, and contribute to budget development and cost control.
• Mentor, train and supervise senior and junior designers, ensure adherence to company policies, and provide training on AI tools.
• Communicate with clients and consultants, present design concepts to clients and stakeholders, and collaborate with the Business Development team on proposals.
• Provide project information for the CRM system (HubSpot) and marketing materials, prepare reports, and take part in design reviews.
• Implement approved AI tools (LLMs and generative AI) across the design team and promote continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Architecture or Interior Design.
• Minimum 8 years of architecture or interior design experience.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering interior design projects.
• Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills, and strong collaboration and mentoring abilities.

Required skills

• BIM software (e.g., Revit).
• Proficiency in design presentation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, Lumion, Twinmotion and Marq.
• Google Workspace proficiency.
• Ability to use AI tools, including large language models and generative AI.
