Intern - Human Rights

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a motivated intern to support its mission in South‑East Asia. Based in the Bangkok office, the role offers hands‑on experience in monitoring human‑rights developments, research, and outreach activities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse human‑rights trends and developments across South‑East Asia.
• Prepare daily news briefs and draft internal or external reports on regional human‑rights issues.
• Assist SEARO’s engagement with UN human‑rights mechanisms, including Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies.
• Support the organisation of workshops, seminars and the maintenance of information resources, including website updates.
• Take notes during meetings and conferences and perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. programme, or a recent graduate.
• Strong interest in human rights, migration, climate change, early warning, communication or public information.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; French is an asset.

Required skills

• Ability to draft news articles or social‑media posts.
• Basic skills in designing surveys or polls (desirable).
