Staff Software Engineer – Full Stack AI (Bangkok, Relocation)

About the role

As a Staff Full Stack Engineer you will design and build AI‑driven chat experiences that power Agoda’s AI Assistant, trip planning, customer support flows and proactive recommendations. You will collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists and product managers to create scalable, intuitive travel solutions for millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead full‑stack architecture and system design for features used by millions of customers.
• Own complex end‑to‑end systems—from React‑based frontend to backend microservices—and mentor high‑performing teams.
• Design and evolve Backend‑for‑Frontend (BFF) layers that aggregate downstream services into optimized, UI‑friendly contracts.
• Guide technical decisions across multiple squads, driving engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to deliver cohesive, user‑centered solutions at scale.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering (web, backend, or full stack).
• Hands‑on proficiency with React, Next.js, TypeScript and state‑management libraries (Redux, Zustand, etc.).
• Expertise in Java, Kotlin or .NET and experience designing microservices and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Experience building and owning Node.js/TypeScript BFF layers, including API aggregation and auth handling.
• Solid understanding of frontend performance fundamentals such as Core Web Vitals, code splitting and rendering strategies.
• Familiarity with testing across the stack (unit, integration, E2E) using tools like Jest, Cypress or Playwright.
• Proven track record leading end‑to‑end architecture on high‑traffic platforms and mentoring engineers.
