Staff/Lead Software Engineer, Back End – Bangkok (Relocation provided)

About the role

Agoda is looking for a senior staff/lead software engineer to own and drive the development of core back‑end services that power its travel platform. Based in Bangkok with full relocation support, you will work on high‑throughput, fault‑tolerant systems that handle inventory, pricing, bookings, payments and more.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of product features, experiments and complex technical initiatives.
• Shape architecture decisions, mentor and coach a distributed team of engineers.
• Continuously improve system architecture, software design and engineering practices.
• Collaborate with backend, client‑side and infrastructure teams to deliver robust technical solutions.
• Identify opportunities to enhance product quality, code standards and development processes.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience building performance‑critical applications using the JVM stack (Java, Scala or Kotlin).
• Proven track record leading projects, technical initiatives or engineering teams with full ownership of systems.
• Hands‑on experience with data platforms such as SQL, Cassandra or Hadoop and ability to select appropriate data solutions.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures and software architecture.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
