Hydraulic Engineer (Thai Proficiency Required)

About the role

AFRY, a European engineering, design and advisory group, is expanding its engineering capabilities in Thailand and Southeast Asia and is adding a Hydraulic Engineer to its Hydropower team in Bangkok. You will help design and analyse hydraulic structures and water conveyance systems for hydropower projects across Southeast Asia, working alongside experienced specialists throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out hydraulic design of water conveyance systems and hydraulic structures for hydropower projects.
• Run hydraulic simulations, including CFD and hydraulic transient analyses, with industry-standard software.
• Prepare hydraulic calculations, technical reports and engineering design documentation.
• Support feasibility studies, detailed engineering design, design reviews and other technical consulting assignments.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and take part in project meetings, giving technical support to Project Managers and clients.
• Occasional travel to project sites in Southeast Asia may be required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or a related discipline.
• Interest in hydraulic engineering and hydropower projects.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international team.
• Thai proficiency required.

Required skills

• Experience with CFD software and other hydraulic modelling tools is an advantage.
• Programming skills such as Python or MATLAB are an advantage.
• Good report writing and technical documentation skills.
