Information Management Assistant – GIS

About the role

The Information Management Assistant (GIS) supports OCHA’s Regional Information Management Unit in Bangkok, providing geospatial data analysis and mapping services for humanitarian emergencies and preparedness activities. The role works under the Regional Information Management Officer and contributes to the production of high‑quality visual information products.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse geospatial data, integrate baseline and operational information, and produce updated map products and online services.
• Maintain repositories of Common Operational Datasets (CODs) and thematic datasets, ensuring documentation and accessibility for partners.
• Create and manage geospatial databases, supporting data modelling, disaster impact analysis, and exposure assessments.
• Design reference and thematic maps in line with OCHA standards and develop online GIS portals and dashboards.
• Coordinate geospatial data requests, liaise with stakeholders, and facilitate data sharing.
• Produce information products such as maps, infographics, charts and reports for both interactive and static use.

Required profile

• Degree in Geography, GIS, Information Management or a related field.
• Experience or strong interest in humanitarian data and emergency response.
• Ability to work under supervision, collaborate with diverse partners and manage multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Geospatial data analysis.
• Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).

• Database creation and management.
