About the role
The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) seeks a part‑time Counsellor to support its Health & Wellbeing Unit in Bangkok. The consultant will provide on‑site and remote counselling services to UN staff and their dependents, and help build organisational resilience during infectious disease outbreaks.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver briefings and training programmes on stress, crisis management, psychological first aid, resilience building and related soft‑skill topics.
- Adapt existing training plans to meet individual and organisational needs and update learning materials in collaboration with the ESCAP Medical Officer and the NY‑Staff Counsellor’s Office.
- Provide individual and group counselling on stress, harassment, substance abuse, grievances, illness, family and work‑related issues, both in‑person and remotely.
- Deliver live or online training on burnout, anxiety, stress management, resilience, time management and conflict management for ESCAP personnel.
- Collaborate with the Staff Counsellor’s Office to identify training needs, conduct literature reviews and give feedback on new materials.
- Support the implementation of ESCAP’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Action Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Professional counselling qualification with experience in stress and crisis management.
- Proven ability to design and deliver training programmes for adult audiences.
- Experience providing counselling services to diverse client groups, preferably within an international or UN context.
- Ability to work under the supervision of the ESCAP Medical Officer and the Chief of Staff Counsellor’s Office.
