Plate Structures Designer

About the role

CB&I, which delivers integrated storage and asset-management solutions through its Storage Solutions and Asset Solutions business units, is hiring a Plate Structures Designer in Thailand. The designer uses 2D and/or 3D CAD skills and CB&I engineering and drafting templates to produce drawings and bills of material for plate structures, foundations, structural and piping elements related to CB&I Storage Solutions products. The role works in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment and reports to the Project Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate detail drawings for customer approval, fabrication and/or construction in line with design codes, company standards and customer drawings.
• Ensure drawing details are safe for field erection and consider constructability.
• Compare drawings and bills of material with the as-sold estimate and report discrepancies to the project team.
• Run programs to generate detail drawings and bills of material.
• Estimate task duration and commit to definitive deadlines.
• Use the document management system and project collaboration and productivity tools effectively.

Required profile

• 3+ years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma and at least one year of post-high school education or equivalent experience; associate or 2-year technical degree preferred.
• Knowledge of CB&I products and markets.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD, such as MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Steel detailing practices and standard industry conventions.
• Geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, quantity take-offs and basic bills of material.
