Sourcing Engineer

About the role

Rockwell Automation is hiring a Sourcing Engineer in Thailand to support and implement its Strategic Sourcing according to the Commodity Strategy. The role works with local, regional and global supply chain projects to deliver year-on-year improvements, reports to the Sourcing Manager and works hybrid in Thailand.

Key responsibilities

• Implement sourcing strategies on assigned commodities with regional commodity leads, and support Global Commodity Leads
• Source and qualify new suppliers, especially in Best-Cost-Country (BCC)
• Act as technical interface between suppliers and Business Units and Engineering on alternate sourcing, materials and quality issues
• Develop supplier development programs and support VAVE projects
• Manage supplier selection, lot sizes, lead times and KPIs, and take part in supplier business reviews
• Review the supply base, run Kaizen events to build savings and share best practices
• Recruit, develop and retain talent, and share information across the global commodity team

Required profile

• Engineering degree, preferably electrical/electronics or mechanical, with relevant technical experience
• Minimum 5 years of progressive sourcing experience across multiple commodities and regions
• Proven track record as a technical interface with suppliers and engineering, and experience in project management
• Experience managing sourcing in multi-site and multi-commodity settings
• Travel up to 50% domestic and international

Preferred qualifications

• Broad knowledge of direct material commodities such as plastics, transformers, fans and blowers, heatsinks and PCB/PCBA
• Exposure to high-mix low-volume environments
• Regional sourcing experience in Asia Pacific
• Knowledge of market conditions, supplier analysis, pricing and benchmarking
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and cultural sensitivity across global boundaries
