Cybercrime Law and Technology Specialist Intern

About the role
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Bangkok is seeking a motivated intern to support its Regional Cybercrime Programme. Working under the Regional Coordinator for Cybercrime, the intern will focus on cybercrime and cybersecurity law, contributing to research, policy development and programme activities that strengthen criminal‑justice responses to cyber threats.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct desk research and comparative legal analysis on national, regional and international cybercrime frameworks.
- Collect and analyse data on cyber‑enabled and cyber‑dependent crimes, emerging threats and malware trends.
- Monitor and summarise policy and legislative developments related to electronic evidence, data protection, jurisdiction and international cooperation.
- Draft and review technical notes, legal analyses, briefing papers, concept notes, reports and presentations.
- Support activities on digital evidence, basic forensic concepts and incident response.
- Assist in organising meetings, workshops, capacity‑building events and consultations, preparing agendas and background materials.
- Provide general analytical, research and administrative support to the Cybercrime Programme, Criminal Justice Programme and related teams.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recently completed a second university degree (or final year of a first degree) – minimum Bachelor’s level.
- Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its Charter.
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Preferred fields of study: Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Cyber Law, Information Law, Public Policy or related.
Required skills
- Proficiency with standard office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).

- Unpaid, full‑time 6‑month internship (40 hours/week) at UNODC’s Regional Office in Bangkok.
