Field Service Engineer - Filling Lines

About the role

GEA is looking for a Field Service Engineer based in Bangkok to provide service maintenance, installation, commissioning and overhaul support for filling lines. The role involves regular plant visits, troubleshooting and customer support, with about 80% travel within Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and unplanned service maintenance on filling lines, completing assigned jobs on time and to quality standards.
• Carry out installation, commissioning or overhaul support and execution.
• Prepare hazard and risk assessments and ensure they are implemented in line with customer and company SOPs.
• Visit plants periodically to monitor their status and performance.
• Troubleshoot on site and provide customer support, then write a comprehensive service report.
• Train customers on equipment operation and basic maintenance.
• Promote the company's products and services, support service sales with technical clarifications and spare parts recommendations, and join customer meetings when technical support is needed.
• Contribute to business targets and use the Smart Filling online tools (GEMS, GESP, GEA-Assist, e-shop).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in field service, maintenance, commissioning or automation engineering.
• Preferred: experience in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical or aseptic processing industries, and familiarity with aseptic processing and filling technology.
• Ability to travel frequently and work independently, with good command of written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and machine maintenance.
• Knowledge of PLCs, HMI, industrial networks and automation troubleshooting.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of servo systems, sensors, instrumentation and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with filling machines, packaging equipment or process automation systems is highly desirable.
