Motor and Non-Motor Underwriting Manager

About the role

Sunday is looking for a Motor and Non-Motor Underwriting Manager to own and lead its underwriting function. The role covers setting underwriting guidelines and pricing, managing workflows and SOPs, leading a small team of underwriters, policy issuance and endorsements staff, and reporting underwriting performance to management.

Key responsibilities

• Own, review and update underwriting guidelines and pricing conditions for all policy types in line with company direction and targets.
• Collaborate with data science and insurtech partners to automate quotation, pricing, policy issuance and endorsements.
• Manage workflows, SOPs and manuals for receiving, reviewing and issuing policies and endorsements for group and individual applications and standard sales orders, working with brokers and agents.
• Define and run strategies with brokers and agents to grow written premiums and improve portfolio profitability.
• Prepare periodic reports and analyses of underwriting performance using Tableau and other dashboards.
• Ensure premiums and policies issued through the core system comply with OIC regulations and the company's underwriting guidelines.
• Manage a team of underwriters, policy issuance and endorsements staff, and take part in internal and client-facing meetings.
• Provide accurate information to operations teams so policies, endorsements and invoices are issued correctly and on time.
• Control end-to-end underwriting turnaround times and service levels, and implement improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Administration, Insurance or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in underwriting within an insurance company.
• Experience in leadership, teamwork and operations for underwriting.
• Extensive knowledge of the insurance industry, including coverage and regulatory issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written English and Thai.
• Supervisory skills, including delegation, guidance and personnel management.
